On the hottest day in June, we travelled up to Royal Russell School in Croydon for our third tournament of this season. This was also going to be the last time our favourite Spartan, Simon Barber, played with us as he is moving to London in the summer.
This tournament gave the Spartans a great opportunity to play against some really good teams that we have not encountered before. The Spartans team were up against some tough opposition in the first round, but we performed well winning 2 matches and lost 1 match by just one last minute goal. This result placed us in the running for the plate of the tournament. From then on, we were unstoppable! We won all our remaining 4 matches to become the plate winners!
A special thanks to Simon Barber, who have been an integral part of the team since he joined in 2012. He has always shone on the Korfball pitch and his enthusiasm for Korfball is infectious! We will all miss him dearly and wish him the best of luck for the future.
