Spartans Regional comes 2nd in the Western League

The Spartans Regional Team travelled up to Bristol on 5th April for the Super Saturday at Bristol City Academy who hosted the final league games of the season for seven teams.  With so many matches still to play on the last day, Spartans will have to win both their games to secure a respectable second place.

Spartans Regional Team’s first match was against Cardiff Dragons, the team who forfeited their first match against Spartans at Bitterne.  Although Cardiff Dragons is at the bottom of the table, having lost all their matches, they still tested Spartans well with a strong performance.  Luckily, Spartans have great scorers who were able to put up accurate shots which gave us a win with the score of 18-10.

After an hour’s rest, Spartans are up again against Gloucester Lions. In the previous match, Spartans had an impressive win of 24-9 against Gloucester.  This time, Spartans didn’t fail to impress, and again won the match with a convincing score of 24-10.

With two great wins on the last match day of the season 2013/14, Spartans Regional Team are Runners Up in the Western Regional League. This is an excellent result for the newcomers to the Western Regional League.  Our MVP of the season is Alex Bell. Congratulations to all who played for Spartans Regional Team and thank you to the Spartans Regional Team Captain, Andy Nye, for doing a fantastic job for the season 2013/14!
